GROWN UPS AT PLAY
Well, what an unbelievably busy first half to 2009 and it doesn't look like slowing down either as the Loz Jones diary fills up with interviews, gigs, festival dates and all manner of promotional stuff as we head into the summer. "I guess that means we must be doing something right then" says Natalie when we last met up with the band during the filming of the fantastic video for Idiot Room. "If we're busy, it means someone out there likes us!" - very true and if the early response to the video is anything to go by, that's turning out to be a lot of someones. "The video is really just a direct visual translation of the lyrics" added Loz "We don't want to spell it out too much and after all, it is just a bit of fun but the song is all about what's happening in politics, banks, businesses etc and we think it captures the mood of the nation right now". If you haven't seen the video, check it out on YouTube or Noostar. As always, the band really welcome your feedback so please leave your ratings and comments.
Idiot Room is released in August on indie label Crash Records, the first step in a collaboration that the band hope will blossom into a strong working relationship when new material is recorded at the end of this year. "I can't wait to get going on some new songs", Stuart told us as his nose was being powdered for his close-up, "we're going to enjoy these summer gigs and then it's time to get creative again".
NOW WE ARE SEVEN
Message from Loz - "Thanks to everyone who responded to our Management/PR ad. In the end there were a few options open to us and we're sorry if we messed anyone around but we took time to make the right decision. We're really pleased that Matt David has joined us and will be working on helping us reach that 'wider audience'. Matt will be around at many of our gigs over the summer, so say hello and make him feel welcome because now he's one of us".
SUMMER 2009
First of all, thanks to everyone who voted for the band at SURFACE UNSIGNED even more so, everyone who came down to Camden and cheered them on as they progressed through to the Semi-Finals which take place at The Dome in Tufnell Park on Thursday 16th July. You can get tickets here or pay on the night and of course you can text vote right now (see details below). If you can't make that though, there are loads of gigs between now and the end of September so check the list in LIVE for one near you. There's plenty to get excited about starting in June with a top line-up at The Hat Factory (11th) followed by a live session on Essex's Phoenix FM (10pm on 17th) leading up to the gig at The Bitter End in Romford (20th). A brilliant venue and usually a great night.
After a whole string of shows in July, two highlights of August will surely be the BBC INTRODUCING stage at the Luton Summer Festival (daytime on the 15th) which is right in the centre of town with some fantastic bands and The Mitre Street Party (30th) when the band will be rounding off a whole day of music in Buckingham. All the details are on our LIVE page.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
